Community in the first century church was vitally important. Churches were typically comprised of small groups of people from neighborhoods. The Bible tells us that in Acts the believers in churches had “everything in common” and “day by day” met together and ate together in each others’ homes. As churches grow larger, it becomes more and more difficult to truly connect with people.
Community at Cross Point is just as fundamental as it was in the first century church. It is, however, difficult to form a community that can be tightly knit with the 700 people you may be with in worship one or two hours a week. That’s why we place an emphasis on Small Groups.
Small Groups are the primary method by which we foster community within the church. Your Small Group is an opportunity for you to develop friendships and meaningful relationships with fellow believers. While you may not be able to develop a relationship with all of the 700 people you encounter in worship on Sunday, you can with the twenty or so people who are in your Small Group. Small Groups normally consist of a time of fellowship, a time for prayer and praise, and a time of Bible study on a topic picked by the group.
While most Small Groups meet on Sunday morning and at the Church, there are several that meet at other times and other locations for your convenience.
